Direct yet innovative, Equipment clothing is characterized by its refined tailoring and timeless glamour which catapulted the brand into recognition amongst the fashion elite. It drew inspiration from 50s American films, from Hollywood stars such as Katharine Hepburn and Lauren Bacall—who eventually became one of its clients—thus making the men’s wear-inspired shirts a global success. In his commitment in maintaining the simplicity and quality of the brand, Restoin opted to specialize in shirts, and focus only on shirts, letting his designs speak for itself, rather than working under delusions of grandeur. After two decades of working on the brand’s success, Restoin decidedly moved on to another phase of his career. Then in came Serge Azria, a renowned visionary in the fashion industry who is also the man behind the successful fashion lines JOIE and Current / Elliott. He was pegged to relaunch the illustrious brand in 2010 as the company’s CEO and creative director.
